Barbara Johnston is Senior Vice President, General Counsel of Regency Centers, where she leads and directs legal activities nationwide.
In 2010, Barbara joined Regency to advise senior management on legal rights, obligations, and risks for all corporate and other transactions, as well as wide-ranging company matters and general corporate compliance. She is also corporate secretary for the board of directors and chief compliance officer.
Prior to Regency, Barbara served as a partner with the national firm of McGuireWoods LLP, practicing in the areas of business law with an emphasis on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and general corporate law matters. She also served as general counsel for Florida Rock Industries, Inc. and as a law clerk for the U.S. District Court in Jacksonville.
Recognized by Chambers USA as a leading lawyer for business, Barbara was also rated a Super Lawyer for her work in the corporate practice of law. Barbara earned her Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Florida. An AV-rated lawyer, she is a member of The Florida Bar, the American Bar Association, and The Jacksonville Bar Association.
Active in her community, Barbara is a board member and officer of the Jacksonville chapter of the World Affairs Council and a board member and committee chair for the Northeast Florida Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel. She’s previously served as an appointed commissioner on the First District Court of Appeals’ Judicial Nominating Commission and as a board member with the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce. Barbara and her husband have two sons, both of whom chose law as their profession.
