Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Jacksonville Office

Mike Herman is Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary for Regency Centers.

Mike manages Regency's Legal, Risk Management, and Records and Information Management teams.

Born and raised in NYC, Mike has been a lawyer for over 35 years. He has been a general counsel of multiple publicly-traded companies since 1996, primarily in the REIT/real estate and the chemicals industries, having had the honor of serving six CEOs. He has extensive experience in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, commercial transactions, and environmental law.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Economics and English from Binghamton University and a Juris Doctor from St. John's University School of Law.

He has been proud to volunteer for the United Way of Northeast Florida for many years and in several capacities, including long service on its Board of Directors. Mike has also served other non-profits in the Northeast Florida area. He was a founder of the Northeast Florida Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel. He has actively participated in several trade associations for years, including Nareit, ICSC, the National Association of Forest Owners, and the American Forest and Paper Association.

Mike is married, a father of two, a stepfather of two, and a grandfather of one (soon to be two). He likes to read (other than law stuff), travel, spend time at his cabin in Maine with family and friends, and occasionally exercise. His long-term goal is to be a grandfather his grandchildren adore and whose parents roll their eyes at.
